Movies, Food, Piggies, Cloth Diapers…Adjusting…

Little Bit has been clinging to me a lot last night and today.  I’m trying to teach her how to play by herself, but she wants in my lap and arms all the time.

Last night was incredible!  Probably one of my favorite nights I’ve had in my life.  We got Little Bit all ready for bed.  We thought we would let her have a treat by watching a movie.  We haven’t turned on the T.V. for her yet, for many reasons, so tonight was going to be a small treat!  We decided to watch Brave.  She cuddled up in my arms and didn’t move a muscle the whole time.  She just laid her sweet head on my chest and watched.  When she cuddles she stays so still and doesn’t even make a noise!  I cuddled up in Jeff’s arms and she cuddled up in mine and we stayed like that for the movie.  It was incredible.  I don’t mind watching kid movies (we love Brave btw), if it’s like that every time!

We are really trying to enjoy every moment, and soak up everything we can.  It’s crazy how much you can learn about kids and parenting in just a couple of days.  We don’t have everything figured out, by any means, but we are enjoying the whole process.

We should know more today about how long Little Bit will be living with us.  We pray for her family and that the best decision for her will be made.

More  updates:

Little Bit is cutting a molar, so she’s chewing on her fingers and slobbering.

She has started to mimic me a lot…especially in her eating.  This morning she would only eat my eggs (w/ketchup), and my bread (w/jelly).

She sleeps through the night.  Usually from 8pm to 7am.

She’s really good at self-soothing.  When I lay her in her crib, she whines for about a minute…babbles, and then goes to sleep.

She loves to sing!

Food Likes:

Mac n’ Cheese

Grilled Cheese

Chicken

Noodles

Peach yogurt…but not the peaches 🙂

Dislikes:

Sweet Potatoes

pretty much any VEGETABLE!

I thought I would share a few photos with you from the last few days.

Little Piggies.

Gabriella Harris 020I love this little cloth diapered bum.  You know Keira has to get hers in the picture too!  We aren’t technically cloth diapering…she is partway potty trained.  She came with panties, but she still has accidents.  Just to safe-guard our floors and furniture, I keep her in cloth diapers.  She’s in Bumkins cloth diapers right now, because that is what I have the most of.  I bought them used at a consignment sale.  They aren’t may favorite because the velcro and elastic is wearing out, but it’s the best I have for now.

I started making my own, but my sewing machine was giving me fits.  After I get a new one, I will start making them again.  This will work best, because I can custom fit them to her.  She is in a medium Bumkins All-in-One in the picture, which is a little big.  The small is a little small.  The All-in-Ones are nice because it’s all one piece (hence the name).  So, you just put them on like you would a disposable diaper, then when she wets, you just wash the whole thing.  She wets about 4 a day.  I have about 8, so I’m washing everyday.

The diapers I am making are fitteds with soakers inside and a cover outside.  We should be able to use the one cover all day (just wipe it off if pee gets on it).  I’ll keep ya’ll all posted on the diapering…for those interested.

Luckily we haven’t had to change one poopie diaper!  She always poops in the toilet!  Yay!

It’s hard to crop my images, but we have to keep her identity safe.  Anyways, I just had to share.  I was cooking supper last night and Jeff was watching Little Bit.  She loves to color (mental note to buy crayons), so Jeff was drawing her a picture in her little book to color.  She loves him so much.  The best part (to me) about being a parent is being able to watch Jeff turn into a daddy.  It’s a role I always new he’d be good at…but I didn’t expect it to be tugging at my heartstrings constantly!  I love watching them together.  ❤

This is a story of two lovebirds who got in a little over their heads, or at times it feels that way, remodeling a little home built in the 1940's. Our journey has bumps and twists, ups and downs, but we wouldn't have it any other way! Please join us and our two poodles as we flip this old house and work towards the adoption of our first child!
